2 Minute Read The Horowhenua District Council’s Read for Trees Project has reached an incredible halfway milestone, and we are thrilled to share the progress with you! This initiative aims to encourage young readers to devour books while contributing to a greener future. We’re partnering with the Horowhenua District Council on this exceptional program to encourage our youngsters to read – so we can plant more trees. Our amazing community readers have been turning pages into forests, and the numbers are extraordinary:
Key Achievements
Pages Read: Our community readers have impressively consumed 109,919 pages so far.
Leaves Gathered: The project has collected 2,260 leaves, symbolising the growth and impact of this initiative.
Trees Unlocked: We have already unlocked 22.6 trees for planting, surpassing our initial goal of 21 trees
Future Prospects
Thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Horowhenua Library, there is potential for up to 20 more trees to be added to our local green spaces. This not only enhances the beauty of the community but also contributes to a more sustainable environment for future generations. The Read for Trees Project demonstrates that when communities come together, remarkable things can happen. Every page turned is a step towards creating a greener Horowhenua. Keep reading!
